DO NOT GIVE COMBINATION SHOTS-if there is a reaction, you won't know what vaccine it was.
Pup Vaccination and the 12 Month Booster
The
recommendation of the VGG and UC Davis is for initial vaccination at
8–9 weeks of age followed
by a second vaccination-Canine Parvovirus, Distemper Virus
3–4 weeks later, and a
third vaccination given between Canine Parvovirus, Distemper Virus
14–16 weeks of age. Canine Parvovirus, Distemper
Virus
Vaccines not needed
Canine
Influenza Virus, Canine Distemper-Measles Combination Vaccine, Adenovirus, and only give Bordatella if in a doggie
park,boarding facility or being shown.
Canine Leptospira Vaccines, Canine Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme) Vaccine,
Canine Coronavirus Vaccine, Canine Giardia spp. Vaccine, Canine Rattlesnake Vaccine, Canine Porphyromonas Vaccine.
Please note however that some Pugs are
allergic to the leptospirosis vaccine. Please check with your veterinarian if you have questions or concerns.
Great
caution should still be maintained by the owner – allowing restricted exposure of the pup to controlled areas and only
to other pups that are healthy and fully vaccinated. The VGG recommends that whenever possible a third dose of core vaccine
be given at 14–16 weeks of age.
In immunological terms, the repeated injections given to pups in their
first year of life do not constitute boosters. They are rather attempts to induce a primary immune response.
Here repeated doses are required.
All dogs should receive a first booster 12 months after completion
of the primary vaccination course.
The 12 month booster
will also ensure immunity for dogs that may not have adequately responded to the pup vaccinations.
Diet:
I am feeding Natural Balance Duck and Potatoe. I am having very good luck
with this diet with allergies and it is best to feed a single protein, no wheat, soy, beef or chicken.
Also give plain yogurt, cottage cheese and scrambled eggs.
The first sign of allergies are black yeast in the ears and scratching.
If you see this, go to your vet for treatment of the ears before it turns
into an infection. Stop egg and milk products.
Switch then to Fish
and sweet potatoe.
Next option is Bison and sweet potatoe.
After 5 months
of age, do not feed puppy food with high protein. Keep it around 22%
My puppies are socialized by my Grandchildren and other small and medium dogs.
All puppies are AKC littered
registered, they will have a thorough Veterinary health examination and Veterinary conformation evaluation and will
have had the first vaccine at 8 weeks and will be preventativly treated for parasites. I offer a one year
health guarantee against any life threatening genetic diseases for a replacement puppy. All puppies are considered available
until a deposit is received. I can take a check or PayPal for the deposit with 4% added.
